Train The Movement; Not The Muscle

Any pro fitness trainer is familiar with the saying: "train the movement; not the muscle." For MMA conditioning, this is all the more true. Our goals are very specific. We train to hit harder, move faster, and last longer. Whether training for the cage or the streets, always remember to make sure that every exercise you're doing has a practical transfer into the way you fight. When people focus on specific muscles, they neglect the overall foundation of strong movement. There are a variety of muscles involved in everything you do. This is why fighters often turn out to be stronger than bodybuilders.
